Replacement dwelling on Guernsey’s West Coast

Main contractor: CA Duquemin

Structural & civil engineering: CBL Consulting

Following several refused planning applications over a number of years A7 Design were delighted to secure Planning Permission for a replacement dwelling on Guernsey's west coast. Due to the lack of architectural merit and the poor orientation of the existing dwelling which did little to capitalise on the panoramic views of Guernsey's coastline, it was decided the existing dwelling was to be demolished and recycled where possible and replaced with bespoke new dwelling.

The design conforms to a number of strict planning constraints being located in an area of high landscape value with sensitive historic surroundings. The form was evolved from the contours of surrounding landscape and significantly improves the existing sight lines from the neighbouring protected Burton Battery monument.

Prior to the concept and formal planning application being made, a detailed topographical survey, and site investigation was undertaken to ascertain the geology of the site.
